Research
My research interests broadly relate to how institutions produce and shape racial and socioeconomic inequalities. My primary areas of focus are in education politics, federalism, and policy studies. In my research, I often delve into history to explain political phenomena today. I have extensive experience in qualitative methods, and I tend to gravitate toward archival research, interviews, and ethnographies.
In addition to my solo work, I enjoy working with others! Currently, I am a research assistant to Jamila Michener and David Bateman, and I am co-authoring a series of papers with my fellow Ph.D. Candidate Aubrey Hall. In my solo-authored research, I also work with and mentor three undergraduate research assistants.

Miscellaneous
When I’m not in the field, teaching, or doing service work, you can catch me baking various breads and pastries, reading a good book outside (weather permitting), or listening to music on a long walk. I love spending time with my friends and family, exploring new places, and learning about anything and everything. I’m an avid fan of soccer, tennis, and figure skating, and I enjoy playing speed chess and watercolor painting. I’ve been learning Irish for fun…ach cúpla focal amháin!
